Ooookies...this is a whinge I wrote after an unpromising start to the first series Rove [live] on Channel Ten...

EPODS ROVE WHINGE (25/10/00)

After such a promising start last year - what has happened to the show that I loved?

No, I'm not speaking of "Pets Behaving Badly", I'm talking about "Rove".

Rove and the kids are all very talented people, but the format of the current show does nothing to showcase thier talents.

For example:

- Pete hasn't talked about testicles once this series.
- Dave hasn't said "trousers" enough
- Corinne hasn't stretched a friendship, or killed two birds with one stone, or made the s**t hit the fan.

But seriously...

As it stands, "Rove Live" is just another inoffensive tonight show with nothing to make it stand out from the rest, except perhaps that they have the hairiest man ever on a televison set. And that it is the only show on tv that doesn't involve someone being kicked off an island. (at the moment anyway)

There are way too many guests and the show is lacking a lot of the elements which made the first series of "Rove" so special. Like constant Tonia Toddman references.

Questions:

* Why have the kids on the couch been segregated over to the other side of the stage? The chat between them and Rove is very awkward because of where they're located. And where's Pete's cushion?
* What happened to the chat with the kids on the couch after Roves monologue?
* What's with the interview couches - what's wrong with the desk?
* What has happened to Corinnes cliche tests?
* And...where is the etc etc/kenny and daz/other peoples lives/celebrity senses?

And "Rove Live" clashes with "The Fat" on the ABC at 10pm *grumbles*.
