ROVE MONOLOGUE EPISODE EIGHT

Welcome, welcome...well, I tell you what, it's been a huge week this week. We can't fit any more people in here if we tried...I'll just say that right off the top...It's been a mad week, we've had the referendum....dammit....and oh we had the opening of the Fox Studios...there wasn't much publicity, you might have missed it.

The Wallabies, well done the Wallabies...but, something that caught my eye this week that I thought was very relevant and something we should all be aware of...and that was the fact that the RSPCA this week have requested that people get seatbelts for their dogs when they're driving the car...not the dogs themselves, I don't think the dogs can really turn without opposable thumbs...but I think it's a great idea to have the dogs in the backseat strapped in, because there's nothing worse than a backseat driver who's not only telling you when to turn left and right...but then also drooling over your ear at the same time. Keep them back, very good.

But the reason why the RSPCA demanded this...not demanded, requested....just get myself out of trouble there...was because they're actually saying that people should treat their dogs as kids...you wouldn't put your kids in a car and just let them jump all over the place...maybe...I don't know, that's just me...But they were saying that you should treat your dogs like your kids, so kep them strapped in nice and tight and whenever they start barking,"Are we there yet?", you can demand,"Well, you can get out and walk"...

Of course a dog would never say that, a dog would sort of do it in that Scooby Doo kinda like..."Are we there yet...", it's not talking like a dog, it's just putting the letter ' r ' at the start of things, we all know that...But, I think of it in the dogs point of view. I mean it's a very safe thing to have and that's good, but at the same time when they're strapped in it's really hard for them to sort of play with the ashtrays and move the automatic windows up and down you know...it'd get very hot, as long as they've got an icecream container full of water they should be fine....

I think that's a great thing, but what they're actually saying is the reason why the dog should be strapped in because they've actually become....and I quote, "lethal missiles"...Rumour has it that Saddam Hussein is stockpiling a whole lot of labradors in underground bunkers...but quite personally, and they all said he was mad too....I don't understand...thank you up the back, that was wonderful.

But I can't see, can't see that using dogs as your first line of defense is really going to work...you know, dogs as missiles...knee deep in battle, the Aussie troops...I can't see that they would really instill fear in the hearts of their opponents when they're standing there like this (grabs a puppy doggie and tries to look cute...)...and it's loaded !!! Lets go talk to the kids on the couch.
