Looking for a laugh that is cheap in cost but not in content?

Are you tired of hearing how depressed comedians are and how large or small their appendages may be?

...then Melbourne comic Tom Middlebrook is the answer to your problems! He has two one-hour shows, Weird Science (What The Bleep Does God Know?) and Reality Smites and will perform them at a university or bar near you!

"To endure Tom for the full hour of his show one would have to fit a fairly narrow demographic. They would have to be; a drug user, question religion and have a passing interest in university science.” – Colin Flaherty, thegroggysquirrel.com.au

...and that was just his first show!

Tom was born in Zambia and raised in Newcastle. His parents are part of the Bahai Faith, a religion that embraces Peace and believes that earth is one country - mankind it’s citizens. Being raised under this faith Tom was encouraged to learn about all religions and their formation. Tom's father is a doctor in chemical engineering and mettalurgy and his mother has a degree in Pure mathematics and statistics.

After leaving High School, Tom studied Photonics (the study of light) at Newcastle University for 2 years which encompassed chemistry, electronics and quantum physics. He then moved to Canberra for 1 year to study accounting for no reason. After putting university on permanent hold, Tom went travelling around Australia. Tom spent 3 years living on rural properties. and 8 months in the Blue Mountains where he began writing.

He then spent 10 months in Townsville training to be a scuba diving instructor, then moved to Melbourne, entering Raw comedy in 2007. Tom subscribes to Newscientist magazine and uses Douglas Adams "Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy" as his bible.

Tom has now been performing stand-up comedy for over 2 years at various venues and festivals all over Australia. He supported two shows at the 2007 Melbourne International Comedy Festival (2 dogs Hi 7 and Late night at the Exford). The following year, he wrote and performed “Weird Science (What the Bleep Does God Know?)” which ran 11 shows during the Melbourne Comedy Festival 2008 and seven times at the Wild West Comedy Fest in Perth, November 2008.

Tom has been attending Improvisational workshops with The Crew since early 2007, primarily under the guidance of Janelle Koenig. He is now a member of the Improvisational comedy group “The Baby Seal Club”

Tom is looking forward to premiering his new show "Reality Smites" at the 2009 Melbourne International Comedy Festival which deals with a topic which should touch home with everyone - REALITY! What is it? Where can one find it? Why does it always seem to strike when you least expect it? Is terrorism really real?

Tom can accurately be described as the Free-Thinkers comedian. His jokes and tales revolve around topics that many may not want to confront, yet are relevant to the 21st century. He definitely questions religion and answers it with a Punchline. He tells tales of hallucinogenic journeys and the crazy world of modern science.

If you are an Atheist, Agnostic, Pagan, Philosopher, have an open mind and like to laugh at life, then check out Tom Middlebrook.
