Countdown’s Big ‘Ed, Rod caught up with the fabbo Ratcat (actually they burst into the office and demanded that he interview them!) and found out what it’s really like after having two brilliant, fabbo, totally radical hit singles in a row and a wicked new album (called Blind Love) finally released.

OK, guys, uh, get your hands away from my throat, Simon! What has been the biggest change in your lives since Tingles and Don’t Go Now went Top 10?

Simon : “My haircut!”
Andrew : “My haircut!”
Amr : “My lack of a haircut.”

So, do girls chase you down the street now?

Simon : “Regularly!”
Andrew : “I give them a good run…”
Amr : “I usually fall over my laces and they catch me - it’s a real bummer!”

Are you really ultra-stinking rich yet?

Simon : “I wish!”
Andrew : “We spent all of our money buying new sandshoes, because of all the running we have to do with girls chasing us!”

Do people treat you differently now that you’re famous?

Simon : “Some do, my friends beat up on me a lot more than they used to.”
Amr : “I enjoy myself a lot more now.”
Andrew : “Yeah, it’s like a 24 hour party these days!”
Simon : “Is it? How come I wasn’t invited!”

What’s the nicest thing that anybody has ever said about Ratcat?

Simon : “One girl said, ‘My mum likes you too!’ - that was nice.”
Andrew : “Whatever you say in this article Rod.” (Urgh! VOMIT! SPEW! CHUCK! What a crawler! - Ed.)
Amr : “When they scream at us, that’s great!”
Andrew : “Yeah, ‘We love you, we love the band!’”

What did your mums say when they found out that you were famous?

Andrew : “It’s a boy!”
Amr : “My mum wanted me to get her a copy of the video.”
Simon : “Does that mean that you’ll be paying more board, son?”

Who is the most famous person you’ve met so far?

Simon : “Andrew.”
Andrew : “That’d have to be Amr, I’d say.”
Amr : “Definitely Andrew!”

Jolly little chaps aren’t they? But such fussy creatures - did you know that Simon won’t wear a waistcoat; or that Andrew hates the colour green; or that Amr doesn’t like combing his hair? No? Well, now you do! Actually, a really interesting fact that guitar fans should know about is that Amr has his bass guitar signed by all the Ramones!!! That’s why he always hugs it in photos!
