Ratcat were an awesome Australian band that helped open my eyes to the fact that there was a hell of a lot of great music around that wasn't necessarily in the mainstream charts. The huge, unexpected success of Ratcat managed to confuse the media and record buying public considerably about what one would describe as an "alternative" band.

The first Ratcat track that I heard was "That Ain't Bad", from the mega successful "Tingles" EP. Ratcat continuously released awesome tracks that I loved, along with the amazing album, "Blind Love". I then was lucky enough to aquire an earlier album they had released called "This Nightmare", which was just as good as all the other Ratcat stuff that I had already heard. They then released another album entitled "Inside Out", and disappeared into obscurity forever...well...sort of. There have been a few other Ratcat albums, but they certainly did not make the dent in the Australian charts that their "Blind Love" album did - not that they were probably expected to.

The reason I most liked Ratcat was that their songs were so fun, simple and straightforward - pure pop, that still makes me smile! I finally got to see Ratcat live in 1999, and again in 2002. Both of the shows were unreal, and I really appreciated the opportunity to see them live, as I figured they would have split up before I got the chance.
