This site has not been updated for ages but I am thinking of updating it again when I get a chance. For now though, this site is in archive form only.

24/04/04

The gig guide I was linking to above seems to have disappeared...so...I have linked it to a working page at the Harbour Agency. I have also checked and added some stuff to the links page. An update from GT himself should be here soon. Theres been a noticeable lack of GT releases (other than the MOS compilation) for what seems like forever (*sigh*) - but - he's *allegedly* been doing lots of stuff under aliases. Ah, and I found this while looking at the GT page on the Harbour Agency site...

11/02/04

Err...long time, no updates...oops sorry about that ;) Stuff added today to : the articles/links, discography, and gallery pages.

21/11/02

Check out this months Aussie Ministry magazine - with a free 10 track cd mixed by GT AND an awesome article on the good man himself. I'm too slack to scan the pics and type out the article here (yet) but it will happen someday...

GT - Electrifyin' Mojo - Press Release

Groove Terminator - the man better known to his friends and fans as GT - became one of the first top-flight Australian DJs to firmly establish himself as a recording artist in 2000 with his debut album, ‘Road Kill’. His preview single release ‘Losing Ground’ resulted in 2 ARIA nominations for Best New Talent & Best Video. The debut single ‘Here Comes Another One’ followed and was absolutely massive at radio. His third single ‘The Sunshine Song’ went onto immediate high rotations, charted top 20 nationally and was ARIA nominated for best dance release becoming a summertime smash and rocking the BDO.

Two years later and GT is set to cement his reputation as one of Australia's leading dance artists with a brilliant follow-up album ‘Electrifyin' Mojo’. Titled partly as a tribute to the pioneering Detroit DJ of the same name, it's a more mature and club-friendly record than its predecessor. In fact, ask a very happy looking GT what the original aim was for his second album and he says, ‘I wanted to bring the two strands together, electric pop and organic dance music using a mix of digital technology and live instruments," he reveals. "I also wanted it to have more of the kind of songs I could play in my DJ sets.”

To this end GT employed the services of Andy Page as co-producer - a talented young Tasmanian who has worked with the likes of Sasha, BT and Adam Freeland. As the album took shape in GT's Sydney studio during 2001, one other imperative came to the fore. "Another difference between Electrifyin' Mojo and Road Kill is that this time I'm a lot more focused on songs rather than instrumental dance tracks. It's a lot more challenging. There's a lot more depth and complexity and longevity in it."

As a result, ‘Electrifyin' Mojo’ contains great performances from some fine singers and they're all locals. ‘Original Stylin' went to Kye, a supremely talented singer and MC out of New Zealand via Sydney. “I've been wanting to do something with Kye for so long," says GT, ‘I basically gave Kye the music and said, 'Here you go. Knock yourself out!' I think he did a fantastic job."

Another outstanding performance comes from Megan, singer with Sydney band GTO, on the album's first single, a cover of PiL's ‘This Is Not a Love Song’. This track maintains GT's penchant for '80s cover versions. "That's my era," he says, laughing. "That's when I was a teenager and first discovered music and sex and fun. And I've always really loved that song."

Then there's Connie from Primary on the beautiful ‘Where the World Ends’, while Richard, the bass player from GT's live band, sings on the second single, ‘Brand New Day’. Ex-Cordrazine singer Hamish turns in a typically delicate, moving performance on the distinctly psychedelic title track. "I've always loved his voice but where we weren't sure whether it would work or not," says GT. "And there was extra pressure because it was my favourite piece of music on the record - I worked so hard on that because I loved it so much. And the first time I heard his vocal I just went, ‘Yeah!’ "

Last but not least there's a total unknown, Michael, on ‘Falling Sideways’. "He lives near my studio and is always hassling me in the street: 'I'm a singer, I¹m a singer! And I'm always like “Yeah, yeah, send me a demo”. So one day I was tooling around with this piece of music and I bumped into him in the street and he was like ‘I just want to come up and sing for you’ and in the end it just sits beautifully”.

While the vocal tracks might be regarded as the heart of ‘Electrifyin' Mojo’, the story would be incomplete with mentioning the instrumentals. ‘Vagrants’ is dark and dubby, while ‘You Are Here’ is as deep as it is mesmerising. Then there are the anthems ‘Kid Dynamite’ and ‘Who Got 'Em?’, both guaranteed to rock the dancefloor at any discerning breaks night. Not to mention the Allen Ginsberg-sampling ‘Beat Generation’ and an affectionate nod to the Cult in ‘Sanctify Yourself’.

Add it all up and you've got one of the most consistently innovative and beautifully produced albums to emerge from the Australian dance music scene. It’s a record with the emotional resonance to match its killer grooves. No wonder GT's looking so happy.

15/10/02

A heap of GT tour dates have been added. Want to see the cover of the new album? Check this!

Nup...I haven't got the album yet, this pic was kindly *ahem!* stolen from the crappy emi/virgin.com.au site which the official grooveterminator.com site now points to.

13/10/02

*smirk*...the new GT album will be out November 4th...not in October...well...I'm off in search of a promo copy this week :P

10/10/02

Added today to the discography page was the scan of GTs new single "Brand New Day".

29/09/02

Forget the ARIA's, guess who's been nominated for GQ Man of the Year...hehe - check this!

Aaaah! finally...GT's new album 'Electrifyin Mojo' will *allegedly* be out in October the week after the ARIAS!!! Kid Dynamite (you can hear it on the kidkenobi-clubber's guide and "Lovesong" cd) *maaaaaay* be a summer single...depending on how GT's new track "Brand New Day" goes (epod thinks its top 10 material..cause it's very radio friendly)

"Here comes another one" *may* get a US release as it is about to feature in a major ad campaign over there. Says GT : "They want to stripe it on the new album!!! I keep tellin em the new stuff does'nt sound anything like that but no-one seems to mind".

I also added some stuff to the site today...the discography page now has scans of the "[This is not a] lovesong" CD...and a very old...very, rare piece of GT enhanced vinyl ;) I've also been nice enough to add a section to the top of the *news* page which will have GT tour dates on it...oh and a *very* cheesy GT happy snap to the "what GT programmed on rage" page...

24/09/02

Long time no updates...sorry...kinda got distracted doing other things... :P Well...I've just totally re-done the entire layout of this site because the other layout was making me ill just looking at it. I think this one looks heaps better :) I've also gone thru the links page and removed all the dead links so now everything *should* work.

I should mention that last week my entire site was deleted, and...amongst other things, I lost a couple of the GT pics I originally had because I didnt have a backup of everything...so...basically, this site is missing the pictures in question, but other than that all is okay :)

Ooooh...by the way, GT has a new single out :) To watch the video or have a listen click here. The official GT site, and the record company site have two different release dates for the single (one says 23/09 the other says 30/09)...and I can't be stuffed wandering to the record store yet..so no idea when its going to be out...but yeah...its out now or... *soon*.

24/04/02

Want to hear all the tracks from the upcoming GT single and see the Lovesong video? Click here!

22/04/02

Ooopies...what I wrote about GTs new single yesterday was wrong...I went to try to buy the new single today and the record store hadn't seen/heard anything about it...that is because GT's new single will be released 20/5/2002...sorry...in my excitement I managed to misread the release date :/ *kicks self*.

21/04/02

Hmmm...long time no update...umm...well...I've been working on my site...epodcentral (check the menu bar up there ^^ to see how much of it is still "under construction" *smirk*)...then again...maybe I've just been too slack as I have'nt heard anything new that is GT related for way too long which has left me uninspired. Anyways...here's some news I've got from Mr GT himself...

The first single from the new album was released yesterday. I haven't got to hear it yet though...*grrr*...It is called "Lovesong (This Is Not A)". I've established that it's NOT a cover of the song Friendly released a couple of years back. When I asked if it was, GTs response was : "Friendly???!!!! arghh!!...its a cover of sorts-more like a severe re-working of the song Public Image Limited released in 1982 (Johnny Lydons band after the Sex Pistols)" click here to see the cover of single.

Ahh...looksies what I got on eBay...click here! I'll put a picture of it up in the discography section soon...

18/11/01

Three articles were added to today, there's a couple more on the way but I couldn't be stuffed typing them out at the moment :P

13/11/01

SITE NEWS

Added today were three pictures to the gallery page...the articles that accompanied them will be up in the next couple of days...also added to the discography page was the very spanky "Smash It Up" promo that I picked up on Ebay a while back! Also...

GT NEWS...FROM THE MAN HIMSELF!

GT will be back @ Home (Cockle Bay Wharf, Darling Harbour, Sydney) doing a residency, he's signed the dotted line, so you can catch him there every Saturday for at least six months! You can also catch him at the Big Day Out...not to mention all the other awesome dance acts that have been signed so far! (Crystal Method, Prodigy...yadayadayada *epod feints*)

Don't expect any new GT tunes this year as the single and album have been delayed. Hmm. I can wait...I guess...*grrr*. The single got delayed as they had problems getting sample clearance. Andy Page has finished up his part of the record and is currently in Amsterdam working with Sasha at the Junkie XL studio "I'm very jealous", says GT. A bunch of tunes off the Roadkill album have been licensed to feature films and sports networks (ESPN etc) in the USA, and "the Americans are very excited about the next record." Hmm. So is Epod...Album *should* be out somewhere between March and May as should at least two singles.

12/11/01

Hmm. yes, it's taken a while for an update as I've been so slack...but as you've probably noticed, the annoying pop up ads are no more...that's because I've moved the site to a paid server..I've also made some slight changes to the layout of the site...also...some updates are finally on the way this week!

07/09/01

wooohoo! finally! GT is going to be doing a Sydney gig!!! "Its on" *teehee* on the 13/09/01 (Thursday) 11pm at the Roundhouse at the University of NSW...according to his management site , admission *allegedly* is free! Epod may or may not be there...

30/08/01

Sorry for the lack of updates, I am still busy moving my sites to a paid server (ie no more popup ads on each page...soon - woohoo!) Also I picked up a *very* interesting cd of GTs "Roadkill" album on Ebay...tis a promo copy which says the album was originally called "Smash It Up"...I will scan it and put it up on the discography page...soonish...ummmm..and GT is back in Byron (again) on the 31/08.

SITE NEWS

Finally! yeshies, epods GT site has been moved. The original crappy layout has gone (and has been replaced with *another* crappy layout *yay!) I've also added a heap of new stuff to this site, so have a good looksies around. Oh and be nice and bookmark the site because I'm hoping to update it fairly frequently.

GT NEWS (FROM THE MAN HIMSELF)

His new album is almost finished!!! GT has been writing the album with Andy Page (BT, Madonna, Hi Fi Bugs, Sasha, Hybrid, "he's doing a remix for the Crystal Method this week etc etc") GT says the sound of the tracks he's been working on for album no.2 are more like that of his DJ sets as opposed to the sound of the first album with "more vocal type tracks than the last album" that have "a generally more electronic vibe". "It's pretty different - nothing around at the moment sounds like the stuff we've been doing!". A single should be out around September this year and contributions from guest vocalists are still being finalised. Roots Manuva (of Leftfield fame) may also be guesting on a track. There's also *cough* *allegedly* a very limited edition 12" doing the rounds at the moment with a Lenny Kravitz sample that GT may or may not have had something to do with. I know *nothing* (blank stare).
