SEBEL/ARIAS ARTICLE - DAILY TELEGRAPH (24/10/00)

If only those walls could talk...A simple notice saying, "To all of you we say thank you for your support" out the front of the Kings Cross den known as The Sebel Townhouse symbolically brings an end to an era in the Australian rock industry. And it is fitting that the hotel closes for business today with a final hurrah with tonight's ARIA after party.

With a guest list that has included Frank Sinatra, Elton John and U2 in the past to current guest Fatboy Slim, Confidential witnessed the hotel's last fashion shoot yesterday. Posing around the famous pool and in the seedy ambeince of the fresco decorated Sir Robert Helpmann suite were ARIA nominated acts including Groove Terminator, Stella One Eleven, Shihad, Lo-tel and David Bridie for January's "Rolling Stone magazine. They were posing in the rock industrys clothing of choice, wet Levi jeans.

Groove Terminator admitted he booked a room for tonights festivities because "the best way to have your own VIP area is to have your own room." "Like everything there has to be change."
