WHAT GT GUEST PROGRAMMED AND TALKED ABOUT ON RAGE (24/06/00)

"Hi, I'm Simon, but you might know me better as Groove Terminator or GT, as my mum calls me sometimes. I'm programming this show tonight...I've had a lot of fun choosing the videos. There's about forty or so that I've chosen. There's a bit of everything in there, you're not gonna like it all, I'm the only one that's gonna like it all and I've got my video on record, so enjoy...this is rage..."

OUT OF SPACE - THE PRODIGY

"The Prodigy, what can I say about the Prodigy? They're the best band of all time for me definately, best band of the 90s for sure, best festival act, yeah I think so...these guys are awesome, great performers. Liam is the man in the studio, makes great beats, great music, also likes Kool Keith alot which I kinda like a lot which is kinda cool. They've definately risen from two bit way back to like become the greatest thing since sliced bread, for me anyway. I think one of the best memories that I have of these guys is moshing to them at the Big Day Out in Sydney about three or four years ago when they were doing the main stage and breathe came on, it was awesome...a really cool experience, I really enjoyed it, very sweaty and dirty, and definately the last time I actually moshed at a Big Day Out cause they kinda get a bit dangerous sometimes. The song that I chose is 'Out of Space' and basically just to remind everyone out there that they didn't always have multi-million dollar budgets for videos and they wern't always the coolest acts around. This video's really hilarious, and check out Keiths eyes, there's something going on in his head..."

THE CLASH - RADIO CLASH
BIG AUDIO DYNAMITE - THE BOTTOM LINE
MALCOM MCCLAREN - BUFFALO GIRLS
PAUL HARDCASTLE - 19
THE ART OF NOISE - CLOSE TO THE EDGE

"The Art of Noise - Close to the edge...When this song came out it pretty well blew my mind. I had no idea what the hell was going on, where these noises were coming from, how they were doing it. It was pretty well before that...it was the whole sample thing...was just sort of like orchestral stamps and whale noises or something like that, dogs barking...and there's a few crap records of that stuff in there as well . These guys, it was awesome it really was - the whole albums just brilliant. I actually need another copy of it on vinyl, so if anyones got one you can send it to me c/- the abc, I'm sure they'd get it to me somehow. What can I say about it? It's really, really cool. Trevor Horne, the man...everyone in the band has gone on to do, like amazing and better things. I still think this is their finest moment.

SIGUE SIGUE SPUTNIK - LOVE MISSILE F1-11
PLASTIC BETRAND - CA PLANE PUR MOI
MOBY - BODYROCK

This is Moby's 'Bodyrock'. This guy makes some really good videos. This is the best video he's made. It's not generally seen alot which is all for the worst cause it's an awesome video. It's the auditons tape which they did for the 'Bodyrock' video. It's really funny and I reckon I could have auditioned for that one, what do you reckon?

MR OZIO - FLAT BEAT
THE CRAMPS - CAN YOUR PUSSY DO THE DOG
BODYJAR (LIVE) - A HAZY SHADE OF WINTER
BEASTIE BOYS - SHE'S ON IT
THE CHEMICAL BROTHERS - BLOCK ROCKIN' BEATS

"The Chemical Brothers - Block rockin' beats. One of my favourite songs of all time, great great video. This song you could play at any party, anywhere. I don't care what sort of music you're into, it always goes off. Great Schoolie D sample. These guys make great music. It's a real pity they don't give the best interviews in the world, but that's okay cause it's all about the music.."

LEFTFIELD - AFRO LEFT
JUNKIE XL - ZEROTONINE

"These guys rock. They're easily one of my favourite bands. They're really seriously underrated in this country. A couple of years ago they had this album out and it was kind of sub Chemicals, Prodigy, US industrial sort of vibe. Now they're really toned their sound and they're about to blow up really big in the UK...Just the way he puts together the beats and the way he plays the sounds is just really cool. It's kind of sortof post big beat, electronic house techno...I don't know what it is. I wish I could make music like this. This is awesome."

DAFT PUNK - REVOLUTION 909
THE SPECIALS - GHOST TOWN
AIR - PLAYGROUND LOVE
RADIOHEAD - PARANOID ANDROID
THE RAMONES - ROCK AND ROLL HIGH SCHOOL

"The Ramones...I want to be sedated...The Ramones were the first band I ever liked. I probably would've been six or seven I think and my mum took me to their concert at the Theberton Theatre in Adelaide...and I actually fell asleep half way through cause it was kinda late for me being a little tacker. She actually made a badge for me saying "I fell asleep during the Ramones". Which is very humiliating for me...I love these guys, they're awesome. I know they've been an influence on a lot of people. I wasn't going to play 'Rock and Roll Highschool" cause its been thrashed but this is like...cool song..."

QUIET RIOT - CUM ON FEEL THE NOISE
IRON MAIDON - NUMBER OF THE BEAST
WHITE ZOMBIE - MORE HUMAN THAN A HUMAN
BULLS ON PARADE - RAGE AGAINST THE MACHINE
MINISTRY - NWO
THE CULT - SHE SELLS SANCTUARY

"The Cult - She sells sanctuary...or seashells by the seashore, as some like to call it - I don't...When I was about 16 or 17, just going out to clubs and before house, techo, there was this stuff and it was really big everywhere I went...reminds me of when I was 16 or 17 going out to this club called Toucans (?) in my hometown of Adelaide with al my schoolmates, and guys - this one's for you..."

PSYCHEDELIC FURS - LOVE MY WAY
FLOWERS - WE CAN GET TOGETHER
INXS - I SEND A MESSAGE
VISION FOUR FIVE - EVERYTHING YOU NEED

"Vision Four Five - Everything you need...I chose this song for two main reasons. One is it's a really good snapshot on rave culture in Australia about five or six years ago. The video itself says it all, it's like no budget...there's actually a lot of footage from the Big Day Out in this video. It's pretty funny. You'll probably be able to spot yourself in the boiler room sorta scenarios...It's a great record, it's produced by some great people who incidently, one of the guys from the band is my co-producer and engineer on my album, "Roadkill"...plug, plug, plug...Is Noel Burgess, great guy, love his work, love you mate - enjoy the song.

TIMEZONE FEAT. JOHN LYDON & AFRIKA BAMBAATAA - WORLD DESTRUCTION
TOOL - ANEMA
NINE INCH NAILS - HEAD LIKE A HOLE
SMASHING PUMKINS - BULLET WITH BUTTERFLY WINGS
BOMB THE BASS - BEAT DIS

"This is pretty well kind of where it started for me I think...this more so the beginning of dj as producer culture, more so than Maars "Pump up the Volume"...I think so anyway. It's really cool. It's a collage of great beats, sci fi movies, hip hop...cool...Tim (?) is the man, he's a big hero of mine, and remember...keep that frequency clear....

ERIC BRAKUM - FOLLOW THE LEADER
LL COOL J - MAMA SAID KNOCK YOU OUT
CYPRESS HILL - ROCK SUPERSTAR

"Cypress Hill - Rock Superstar is the video that I've chosen...I could have chosen any one...probably would've chosen stuff off teh first album but the fact is this is my bands favourite song at the moment. Thisis kind of a catch cry in the Tarago, it's been keeping us sane around the country...it's a really really funny video. Not quite sure what the lyrics about...I think it's supposed to be ironic, but these guys being American, maybe they don't get it..."

BRAND NUBIAN - SLOW DOWN
MISSY ELLIOT - THE RAIN (SUPA DUPA FLY)

"The making of videos...this next one coming up is mine, 'One more time', for me Groove Terminator...Making videos is a fun experience, it's really cool. You get to basicaly act like a complete...um...can I say dickhead? Basically, act like a dickhead for a couple of days in front of your mates. It's a lot of fun, you hopefully get to employ friends of yours from other fields when you can. This video was shot in rural Victoria in Weribee in fact, with the aid of Annelise in the video...and a spacesuit that pretty well killed me. I could only really wear it for like five minutes at a time, and we kinda shot for nearly four days...I think it was something like 65*c inside that suit, so um...I hope you appreciate the fact that I suffered a lot to make this film, cause now it's your turn to suffer...

ONE MORE TIME (THE SUNSHINE SONG) - GROOVE TERMIINATOR
