EPOD RANTS ABOUT GROOVE TERMINATOR

I was first introduced to the sounds of the multi-talented Groove Terminator (aka Simon Lewicki) when I heard his track "Here we go again", which was, in my opinion the standout track on the excellent "Dj Beats" compilation which it appeared on. It is still one of my favourite dance tracks ever. After hearing this track, I waited patiently (and I mean REALLY, really patiently!) for his next release. I was definately not disappointed when I heard his single "Losing Ground". This was followed by "Here Comes Another One" and (finally) GTs (very) long awaited debut album, "Road Kill". [ps. sorry Noel if you ever read this for all the times I harassed you about it! - epod]

"Road Kill" is a mixture of all sorts of music influences and sounds awesome. The diversity of the album was quite a surprise to me actually as it was quite different to most of his other releases that I'd heard. My favourite tracks from it are "Who's Gonna Take the Weight?", "Notorious", and "Here Comes Another One". I also have seen GT perform live with his band a number of times - they are brilliant! I do see a small few of his audience looking a little confused when they see the guitars and hear the music they play though. ha. They're obviously more used to hearing GT djing.

GT has dj'd all over Australia, and has also performed at a number of overseas events. He had a dj residency earlier this year [2000] at Home nightclub in Sydney, although I didn't go to see him as I feared that I'd be too *uncool* to get in ! I finally got to see GT do a dj set at "Luna Beats" which was a dance party event that was held at Luna Park on the night of the Sydney Olympic Games closing ceremony. I couldn't wipe the stupid smile of my face for quite some time - what a huge night.

Hmmm. other stuff that GT has done...(that I know of)

*GT has mixed a number of compilation albums, one called "GTs House", also 2 Ministry of Sound Albums, "Dance Nation" and "Club Nation". (hmm. and maybe a 3rd Ministry of Sound compilation called "A Clubber's Guide To Australia - mixed by Chili HiFly & Tall Paul. *cough)

* GT has also had his tracks included on compilations "DJ Beats" and "DJ Beats 2". He contributed "Notorious" to the Duran Duran tribute album "Undone". "Here Comes Another One" was featured in the movie "Cut", and can be found on its soundtrack.

* He's remixed/produced lots of artists which include Hoops Inc ("Joy" - the song that is), Sound Unlimited (not that I can find his name on any of my cds...hmmm - and I do have them all), Savage Garden (just a remix of "Santa Monica" as far as I know), Dead and Alive ("You Spin Me Round"), amongst others. See my GT discography page for more details.

* He's also part of Chili HiFly - I've only heard two of their tracks but they're both fantastic. Chily HiFly's track "Is It Love?" also went right to the top of the US Billboard Hot Dance/Club Play Charts in 2001 - pretty special stuff hey?

* GT and Chili HiFly were even been nominated for a number of awards at the 2000 Dance Music Awards and also the 2000 ARIA awards.

* GT is currently working on his new album, which *should* be out in September 2001, although that's when the first single will actually be released. He's working with some *very* special people so it should be an awesome album.
