We are located in Santa Isabel province, one of the most unvisited islands in Solomon Islands. Kagata Surfing Frens is also home to numerous plants and animals that are endemic to the islands.

For those arriving from other parts of the South Pacific, the Solomon Islands are a bit of a shock. Unlike Fiji or French Polynesia, this remote corner of Melanesia sees very few tourists, and as a result, gives travelers the opportunity to experience real Pacific Island culture and history without the presence of mass tourism.

The Native people of Santa Isabel province originated from Bugotu (orginal people of Isabel Province). However, Isabel was divided into regions which include Bugotu, Gao, Maringe and Kia (Zabana). The provincial headquaters are in Buala.

HOW TO GET HERE

Flights with Virgin Blue and Solomon Airlines go Brisbane – Honiara direct. Prices vary wildly - ‘go’ fare with Virgin Blue can be as little as $400 return and up to $780 otherwise. The local flight from Honiara to Suavanao is about $130AUD one way. The 24hr ferry to Kia is $40 AUD one way and quite a ride. You will probably be the only white person, good for a little perspective.

An airport pick up boat will take you to the camp. You might fly in, connect with the island flight and be in the camp that afternoon. The boat ride takes you an hour to the camp.

Dates and times are open, dependent upon your travel desires. The maximum amount of guests is only 6 people, so you’re ensured a great time surfing.
