[hugh updates] [why he's the coolest newsreader] [nightline suggestions]
Hugh updates...
18/07/05
The creative writing page was updated thanks to Mocca Linsey :)
25/12/04
Added today was a links page, as well as a new entry to the guestbook. I have also added a Mr Hugh page here.
25/11/04
Mr Hugh has broken the news that he is leaving Channel 9 to take up a position as CNN's Hong Kong correspondent. Hong Kong is a loooong way away, so if you spot him in the street somewhere please give him a hug, wish him the best of luck, and be sure to say it is on behalf of Epod ;) A new Nightline host will be announced soon. Hopefully Channel 9 will take into account my survey, where Steve Irwin is currently polling first place as someone who would make a great news reader. Crikey. That was the day.
11/02/04
The saga continues today in the creative writing section!
23/01/04
OMG. Its been a year since I've updated this site. I've been meaning to do something here for a while but havent got around to it due to a mildly traumatic 12 months. Hopefully I can get back to doing some updates this year. Speaking of which, today I updated the creative writing story, you can read it here. Also, Tim from Brisbane has sent me a poem about the lovely Anna Coren. It can be found in the Hugh guestbook, here.
23/01/03
Added today was a new poll...also...something interesting...as posted on townhallsteps.com forums by someone unbeknownst to me...ermmmm...and I *think* it's a compliment... ;)

Hugh is a badass newsreader, as cool as they come. You can see him being full sinister underneath, like he could pass as a criminal mastermind and pull off some dodgy financial scheme, just that type of guy...
To read the original post, click here!
Also, because my stats show that I have had a *heap* of people visit here looking for Anna Coren...and...because I aim to please *smirk*...I have added a Anna Coren puzzle to this site. Want more? Just ask...and I *may* be nice enough to make a screensaver or something...then again, I might not...bribery *may* help.
10/12/02
The site was updated today thanks to Mr Hugh who was nice enough to send epod some interview questions!
09/12/02
Updated today was the interview page!
24/10/02
The creative writing was updated today thanks to Aemilia :)
22/10/02
Updated today was the creative writing...courtesy of Epod!
10/10/02
Did anyone catch Anna Coren taking Mr Hugh's place on Nightline tonight? She messed up at the end...where Mr
Hugh usually says "...and that was the day" she kinda stumbled a bit and got out "...and that was Nightline" hehe cracked me up :)
09/10/02
Added today were two new Hugh pics/postcards ;)
15/09/02
Yaaaaayyyy! This site is six months old today! Woo. Added today was a fantastically fabulous new Hugh Screensaver...umm...there were no updates last week cause my entire epodcentral site got deleted (not by me by way...it was by the stooooopid web hosting company)...grrrr....oops hey...
02/09/02
Today the story was updated thanks to Ange and Epod!
26/08/02
Added today was some Hugh Postcards and another challenge of the week ;)
20/08/02
Okay, it's one day late *slaps self*...but...the site has been updated as promised...added today was a new Hugh puzzle, and a challenge of the week!
15/08/02
Ummm...I'm heaps sorry for the lack of updates! I haven't had internet access at home for over a month (arrrr!) so keeping this site updated has been near impossible...sooooo....yeh...ooops. There will be a bit of an explanation/cough/novel of sorts of what has been happening with me (like anyone cares...) in my diary...when I get around to updating..which will probably be Sunday...as that's the first day I've had off work for a while.
This site *should* now be regularly updated at least every Monday with all the usual bits and pieces.... Updated today, thanks to Renee, is the Hugh creative writing page...oh...and there's a new guestbook comment ;)
It's official...first it was Conan, and now another one of my favourite red heads is getting married ;) Congratulations Mr Hugh *wink* PS. Did anyone else spot the word "EPOD" scrawled on the back of Mr Hugh's papers last week? I saw the "E", but not the "POD", but still a very good effort ;)
24/06/02
A new challenge of the week was added ;)
20/06/02
This site can now be found at www.hughriminton.com.
18/06/02
WOOO! MR HUGH SUCCESSFULLY COMPLETED LAST WEEKS CHALLENGE OF THE WEEK!!!
10/06/02
Added today was some Hugh desktop wallpaper, click here to use it! Also added was a new challenge of the week ;)
02/06/02
Hmm...the "more substantial update" I mentioned didn't happen last week cause I got busy doing other stuff...it will be happening very soon though. Updated today was the challenge of the week, and a new entry was added to the guestbook :)
31/05/02
Thanks heaps to Renee, the Hugh story was updated :) There was also another response to the survey...that brings the grand total up to eleven responses - is this site popular or what? *wink*cough*cough*.
27/05/02
A new challenge of the week was added ;) A more substantial update is happening later this week...
20/05/02
Another puzzle was added today as well as a challenge of the week...
12/05/02
Added today was a Hugh pictures page...which should prove without a doubt that I have waaaaay too much spare time on my hands. Also added was a new challenge of the week.
09/05/02
Hehe...just when I was starting to think that no one cared, I got one response to my survey...yay...oh and the creative writing has also been updated ;)
06/05/02
A new challenge of the week was added today...
02/05/02
The creative writing was updated today ;)
29/04/02
New today is a super cool Hugh screensaver and a Hugh puzzle. Also added was a challenge of the week, which funnily enough is for Mr Hugh to actually partake in a challenge of the week ;)
24/04/02
I got thinking today about how to make my Hugh standup comedy thing...um...funny and understandable to others so that I wouldn't mess it up again like last time...ie people would laugh with me as opposed to sitting there in stunned and confused silence...and I gave up...but...I did have another thought - how cool would it be if Mr Hugh went and did standup, talking from his perspective about this site...bahaha...I am not cruel enough though to make that a challenge of the week...but I do think it is a cool idea all the same. He has a wicked sense of humour (check his interview answers if you don't believe me) and is also likely to be much better at public speaking then me ;)
23/04/02
The story was updated again today...also I sent some interview questions off to Mr Hugh, who was nice enough to answer them :) Check out the [interview] section to read his responses! Oooh...and check this out - Mr Burga from Townhallsteps linked to me! *wink* ;)
22/04/02
A new challenge of the week was added today.
21/04/02
More was added today to the story in the creative writing section of my site, thanks to Nick and Claire.
18/04/02
Errmm...anybody who had troubles sending me their story from the "creative writing" page, it is now fixed...or just email me your section of the story at this address : epodcentral@hotmail.com.
17/04/02
A bit was added to the story in my creative writing page thanks to Naomi :) Ahh...my housemates finally relented last night and allowed me to watch Nightline on the super huge projecter screen thingie we have in our loungeroom cause I convinced them that I had a mega crap day yesterday. Halfway through....well...during an ad break one of them threateningly (is that a word?) grabbed the remote and started changing channels again though, but all was well and the channel was swiftly returned to Channel Nine *slap*. Hmm...also...still no word from Mr Hugh about a challenge of the week for me...
15/04/02
Was it just me or was anybody else in hysterics when Mr Hugh was reading the story about bananas on Friday nights edition of Nightline? For anyone who missed it...*slap*...there was some sort of protest in Queensland about bananas and he had to read the whole story. Hehe.
Oooher! I got third place for week 7 of the TV week fansite awards with 17% of votes...here's the final totals - I'm finalist number 4 :
14% Finalist 1
Ookies...plenty of updates today! There is a new section of this site called "creative writing"...there is a new entry in the guestbook...a new challenge of the week...and...an update on the survey also. Hehe...oh and someone actually took the time to elaborate on why they chose "boxers" in the survey..."Because he is soooo cute he just has to be wearing boxers!!!" - Melissa.
Hmm yesshies...almost forgot to mention...I also added navigation bars to the top and bottom of the page. They actually all link up to the other sections of my Epodcentral site...which I am currently working on getting up and running again (check the "updates" section for details - please note that not everything is working...yet)
11/04/02
Firstly, I am still trying to work out what Mr Hugh was doing at the end bit of the news last night...if anyone has any ideas or if Mr Hugh himself would care to explain...please do ;)
On Tuesday night I trialed the material from this site at the Comedy Store and I totally messed it up...hehe...I won't be doing any more Hugh material for a while methinks...back to the drawing board...and the Comedy Store next Tuesday night to talk about something else instead ;)
Oooh! Yes, and I have also updated the survey page today with two more votes that don't really tell me anything but well...yes...something to do I guess.
Also...today I got two emails today from people who have checked out this site...
"Not having a telly, I don't get to see "Nightline" but Hugh is very charming." - Jo
Also...another challenge...
As for the TV Week website awards thing...I'm currently 4th...please don't let me be beaten by a Darren Hayes site *smirk*...here's how the tally is looking so far (I'm finalist number 4)
16.4% Finalist 1
Votes close on Friday...so anyone who wants to vote for me...or perhaps the Tempany Deckert site *smirk* please click here!
08/04/02
Hmm. Seems someones officially unofficial Hugh Riminton site is a finalist for this weeks TV Week fansite awards. Click here right now to vote for it! I don't win a Logie if I get the most votes...but ahh well...it still kinda gives me a warm, fuzzy, and altogether kinda special feeling to see it there...cept seeing my *real* (boring) name associated with it...I much prefer Epod ;)
07/04/02
There's a new challenge of the week...and...also confirmation from Epod about whether Mr Hugh successfully completed last weeks challenge. I also got a super cool email from a friend of mine today...which went a little something like this :
"One day in the future I expect to switch on Nightline and see Hugh Riminton with his feet up on the desk, eating a ham sandwich saying "yeah ok here's the news punks" and the credit will be all yours! :)) Hey maybe you could ask him that, to put your name in the credits. Your title can be 'Mr Riminton's personality and appearance adviser'."
Hmm. That would be cool...but Nightline doesn't have credits!
06/04/02
Hehe still no interview questions for me from Mr Hugh (awww! I'm not worthy!), but...I did recieve this email last night from the good man himself...bahaha...
You probably wouldn't believe me if I was to tell you that everything has a purpose - the pen was a ritual initially promised to a friend, the slight bang of the papers on the desk is a coded message requested by my daughter, the periodic stutter is a calculated reminder to myself that I won't have this job forever, etc. (Yes, of course I believe you when you say that everything has a purpose - journalists always tell the truth...don't they? *wink* - epod)
The graphics department hasn't yet responded to my request for a large sign saying EPOD RULES! to appear on the plasma screen behind my head at the start of the bulletin. I'll keep working on them. As I no longer need my legs, I have had them removed and donated to an appropriate charity (who seemed less taken by the gesture than I might have hoped). And before you get too disappointed by my failure to say the word "monkey", were you subtle enough to notice that I did deliberately use the word "gorilla" when the script actually said "guerrilla"?
Who says television can't be interactive, hmm?
04/04/02
Hmm...still no interview questions for me from Mr Riminton as requested in the challenge of the week...hmm...maybe he's too busy taking out a restraining order on me or something...bahaha. Oh yay.
Nightline has a new fan, says Fiona Rohana : "*lol* I got my mum into watching Nightline as well now and she was telling me that last night he was undoing his cufflinks at the end....gee he's getting daring *g*" (or maybe she was just hallucinating...again ; ) - epod) Fiona also sent in a couple of promising suggstions of the week! I've expanded on them a bit...
* In the ad break just before the weather, I challenge him to change his tie to suit the weather for the next day. A dark tie for rainy and a bright tie if it's going to be sunny. (hmm. or dress like the count from Sesame Street if the weather is bad perhaps - epod)
*Put glow in the dark stars on the desk (ner :P I've already suggested something that glows in the dark - epod)
*Sign off with "Thats all from us here at Nightline, I'm Sandra Sully, goodnight." (what would be really cool would be if Sandra Sully did the same thing and signed off saying "That was the day, I'm Hugh Riminton, goodnight - epod)
Hehe. Thanks Fiona ;)
Speaking of suggestions...how about leaving a "special" message for the morning news guy under the desk?
01/04/02
Today 4 nice comments were published into the guestbook, survey results were updated...and...also a new challenge of the week was added, along with whether Hugh successfully completed last weeks challenge ;) I was hoping to trial material from this site during my standup thing at the Comedy Store last Tuesday but well...the open mic night got cancelled due to lack of audience. *sob* its going to happen this week though (I hope) **stay tuned** - epod ;)
