"...She resembles some kind of wack and alluring futuristic Oscar Wilde with her own comedy of of modern day manners. This is highly engaging and quite literally explosive comedy. Sorry to leave you with an image like this, but Earth Mother to MILF will have you laughing so hard that the placenta soup-one of the shows more out ther motifs- will be coming out your nose." - Greta McMahon INPRESS Melbourne

Going to see this show was is almost like wandering into Dolores' lounge room; there are comfy bean bags, the offer of a cup of tea and Dolores introduced all eight members of the audience to each other.

Dolores has a slide presentation running in the background with photos to illustrate her tales about her large Catholic family, her mixed up siblings, her handsome husband and her life in Batemans Bay. This is a good solid show, with nice material and genuine laughs. The real strength of Dolores' performance though is her warmth and her easy way with the audience. As I left Dolores and I shook hands but I felt I knew her so well I almost hugged her.

This performer is magnificent. Despite the initial setback that the show had to commence outside the venue because the owner was delayed, Dolores commenced with utmost professionalism and adherence to the old saying, "the show must go on".

A vibrantly funny, charismatic, enchanting and energetic performer who delivers a routine that is sheer comedy gold. This show is absolutely brilliant and highly recommended.

Dolores Lorette - Earth Mother to MILF
Review by Greta McMahon INPRESS Melbourne

Tucked away in the CBD is Cafe 396 and Dolores Lorette, a self proclaimed piece of Australina wildlife, borderline baby boomer and generation X member, is telling the story of her sex life as a single mother with a wild side. Cafe 396 doesen't hold many people but this helps Dolores engage with the audience on an extraordinary intimate level. Earth Mother to MILF is a monologue designed to put the humour back into everything that everyone was ever too sombre to laugh at. And it's all true

After leaving a 17 year marriage, Dolores finds herself available and truly capable of enjoying the new found luxuries of passionate lovers and random booty calls. Strutting her stuff on stage and telling us tales of still looking after three kids, recipes for placenta soup and meeting up with parents from her kids school for "coffee", Dolores comes across as a thoroughly experienced Jezebel.

In listening to the woman, one realises that it isn't all that difficult to discuss sexuality. Everyone does it. But in parts of the show, the topics Dolores finds most tricky to discuss are the more significant and meaningful experiences as oppossed to inconsequential blow jobs and promiscuous sex.

At moments Dolores' subject matter is quite similair to Fiona O'Loughlin: she tells stories of her kids and the casual eventualties of day to day life. She also resembles some kind of wack and alluring futuristic Oscar Wilde with her own comedy of of modern day manners. This is highly engaging and quite literally explosive comedy. Sorry to leave you with an image like this, but Earth Mother to MILF will have you laughing so hard that the placenta soup-one of the shows more out ther motifs- will be coming out your nose

Dolores - Happiness Is A Warm Ukulele
Review by Colin Flaherty, 27th April 2006

Any performer that can get an intimate crowd excited enough to do multiple Mexican Waves is one who has a great stage manner. Dolores even made us so welcome and comfortable that almost everyone in the room was on a first name basis by the end of the show.

As a warm up to the magic of Dolores, we were treated to two support acts. First up was a woman named Meg who Dolores had met at Jeez Louise. She had only done a couple of gigs and performed a short solid spot about growing up in the southern United States, complete with great redneck/hick material. Next up was Ellie Frew who I’d seen several times around the traps. Delivered in her rather thick Scottish brogue, she told hilarious jokes of her family and her Scottish upbringing.

Our headline act hit the stage and launched into her show, telling tales about her life. Hailing from Batemans Bay, Dolores told us about her large Catholic family, her transition into comedy after being a Clairvoyant and jokes about her husband and kids.

Adding a musical component to the show, Dolores broke out her Ukulele and plucked out a few tunes. In addition to interesting excerpts from a couple of contemporary songs, she played us a rather unlikely peace anthem and the politically correct updating of a classic schoolyard song. Despite having only taken up the Uke recently, Dolores tackled the tunes with gusto.

When Dolores launched into a bit about Libra pad trivia I was interested in what spin she would give it. After seeing Elbowskin tackle the same issue musically, I wanted to see what difference a female perspective would lend to it. What resulted was some brilliant jokes in addition to some unique juggling.

Although the Ukulele didn’t play as big a role as the shows’ title would have suggested, the show was great fun. Dolores has put together a fantastic set of material which she delivers with great enthusiasm that is quite infectious. She is able to keep the audience hanging on her every word and keep them laughing throughout.
