JIMBO

Jimbo has the best job in the universe - travelling all around Australia performing his Big Night Out show!

The first time I thought I met Jimbo, was when I did open mic at the Sydney Comedy Store, way back in 2002 and he was the MC. I found him to be very funny but was admittedly a little scared /intimidated by him because his style of comedy was so very full on! Another night at the Comedy Store, I made the mistake of sitting in the front row, and copped a fair bit of flak from him and the other comedian on that night. Not that I minded too much cause it was funny. After the show Jimbo made me a balloon dog (which I ended up keeping until it totally deflated, much to the disturbance of my housemates at the time), so all was forgiven.

Someone mentioned to me that he was also a clown and that he had performed at a heap of kids parties, something I could not quite believe considering the content of his stand-up. Nonetheless, I did my research and checked out his site, only to find that yes he was a clown, and that in fact we had actually met quite a few years before when I was working at Segaworld!

Sega World was fun but one of my jobs there was to stand at the exit gate and say seeya later/go away to anyone who was leaving. To keep me from being bored I bought some juggling balls not really intending to learn to juggle, just something to keep me occupied. This clown would talk to me sometimes and I was always curious but never knew who that clown was as he was always dressed up! He tried to show me how to juggle a few times, and I just didnt get it so one time he kinda attached himself to the back of me, arms around me, holding my hands trying to get me to juggle. Needless to say I freaked out being grabbed by a boy like that and never learnt how to juggle. Kekekeke.

I have seen a couple of Jimbo's Big Night Out shows, both of which were awesome. Oh, I also designed his official website :). Jimbo also has a dvd (buy it from the official site below!). The dvd is brilliant and highly recommended, and is full of not only his stand-up/big night out stuff, but also other things (that surprisingly do not always involve the use of four letter words!). His site also has a heap of photos and other great stuff, including a really great piece of writing entitled "Death Coach", which I also recommend anyone reading this to check it out!
