Nina Conti
Nina Conti is an extraordinary talent. Daughter of British actors Tom Conti and Kara Wilson, being on stage is coded into her DNA. She is an accomplished actress with a penchant for Shakespeare ( a former member of Royal Shakespeare Company in Stratford) and sticking her hand up the furry oriface of a little chap she simply call's 'Monkey'. Nina, who has also appeared in several episodes of Black Books, has re-invigorated ventriloquism with her abusive foul mouthed fluffy counterpart. Her shows are breathtaking and bridge that gap between theatre and stand up. Nina won the BBC New Comedy Awards in 2002, and in 2008 at the Melbourne International Comedy Festival took out the Barry Award for best in show. She was so astounding, MICF have bought her out for the second time and have contracted her as one of their major international headline acts.
"Absolutely hillarious" The Stage (UK)
"Discard all preconceived notions about ventriloquists... Nina Conti blew us away." Montreal Gazette
"Highly polished, exuberant, playful, technically faultless and utterly engaging" Chortle (UK)
Kitty Flanagan
A successful stand-up up comedian and TV writer/performer in Australia, Kitty Flanagan moved to the UK in 2001 to further her comedy career.
Since returning from London where she became a regular on the top UK comedy circuit including the prestigious London Comedy Store, she also managed to travel the world performing in festivals and comedy clubs everywhere from Paris to Berlin, Dubai to Tokyo & Canada to Cannes. Well known for sketch comedy as well as stand-up, Kitty has appeared in several successful TV shows both in Australia and the UK, most notably Full Frontal (AUS) The Micallef Show (AUS) and The Sketch Show (UK). There have also been numerous TV stand-up appearances, including The World Stands Up on Comedy Central (US) After years of having her writing directed by others, Kitty recently decided she needed to be the boss of everyone and set out to direct her own work. The result is the short film "Dating Ray Fenwick".
"Flanagan has a keen sense of the ridiculous and her perky, offbeat anecdotes are seasoned with smart asides and acute observations that prove remarkably captivating" Chortle.co.uk
"Sharp, topical and very funny" The Melbourne Age
"Flanagan's command of a crowd and material is impressive" Sydney Morning Herald
David Williams
David Williams is a comic who is now regarded as one of Australia’s brightest young stars. Williams appears regularly on Rove Live and is a popular live favourite standup and corporate performer throughout Australia. By no means a novice, David has performed along side some of the world’s best – Jimeoin, Carl Barron, Stevie Starr, The Amazing Jonathon and was even asked to support Michael Buble on his last Australian tour. David has played the Melbourne International Comedy Festival every year since 1999 with a new show each year – a testament to his writing ability. He was chosen to perform in The MICF Montreal Show Case and the Australian MICF Road show which tours all around. David is a regular cast member of Impro Sundae (Theatre Sports) at Melbourne’s Comics Lounge and is a member of the Sydney based accapella group, stars of Big Day Out, Man Choir.
"David Williams who has a Jim Carrey look and manner brings the house down by explaining that road rage is caused by too many drivers listening to Shania Twain playing on their car radio." USA Today
Mandy Nolan (MC)
Audiences adore Mandy on stage, and around Byron Bay where she lives, Mandy-jokes are as much a part of the vernacular as any surf speak. Her humour is sharp, honest, sometimes self-depreciating, somewhat outrageous, but never cruel or pretentious. Frequently irreverent, it speaks to a diverse audience with no set demographic, no gender, race or religion, occupation or tribe. It even crosses state borders and mediums. Mandy Nolan has performed as a stand-up comedian for 20 years. During that time, she has worked alongside celebrities such as Whoopi Goldberg, Ertha Kit, and Bob Downe.

Australia’s adopted son of comedy is back by popular demand, after a sell out season at last year’s Adelaide Fringe. He's certain to sell out again, so come see him while he still has integrity!
‘Round these parts, folks expect good comedy. That’s why they won’t settle for nothin’ less then the eye waterin’, funny-in-your-tummy sound of Arj Barker’s Original Style Bits ‘n Pieces. Tender observations, mixed with hearty chunks of sarcasm, and delicate slices of irony, smothered in that good ol’ fashioned unwarranted anger you love. Mmmmmm. That’s quality you can hear. That’s Original Style Bits ‘n Pieces.
Barker won the coveted Perrier Best Newcomer Award in 1997 and has firmly established himself as one of the golden boys on the international comedy circuit. For years, he has been honing his craft at comedy festivals and clubs all around the world. He has made numerous appearances on late night talk shows, including the Letterman and Conan O'Brian, as well as starring in his own half hour special on the HBO produced by Comedy Central.
Arj has just finished filming the second HBO series of Flight of the Concords in New York. Arj has performed numerous seasons at Edinburgh Fringe plus starred in Montreal's Just For Laughs Festival and Amsterdam's English Speaking Comedy Festival. In 2004 Arj completed a six month Off Broadway season of 'The Marijuana-Logues', a show he wrote with friends. In Australia Arj has appeared on Good News Week, Thank God Your Here, Rove and The Melbourne International Comedy Festival Gala. By the way, he's also a great big spunk.

Cracked Eggs: Comedy Breakfast
with...Hannah Gadsby, Christine Basil, Geraldine Quinn and MC Mandy Nolan
|
10am Bangalow A&I Hall
Sunday, 29th March
$39.90 with breakfast (food from 9am)
Tix @ the Urban 66872678
Cracked Eggs
This is the comedy breakfast featuring the best women comics in the country. It is quite a journey for a woman to enter the male domain of comedy and these women are, by definition 'Cracked Eggs'. Enjoy their outrageous brand of funny with coffee, fruit and a nice hot brekkie.
Christine Basil
Christine has been headlining comedy clubs for more than a decade. She's supported international comics such as David Strassman & Dylan Moran (BBC’s Black Books), The Amazing Johnathon & more. Christine was invited to London’s famous comedy club Jongleur’s as a guest feature for BBC4. She writes for radio & TV, with credits including Skit HOUSE, ABC's One Size Fit's All and every year she is selected by the Melbourne Comedy Festival to appear on UPFRONT the nationally televised showcase for women comics.
Geraldine Quinn
2006 Green Room Award WINNER - 'Best Emerging Cabaret Artiste'
2006 Green Room Award NOMINEE - 'Original Songs'
Rock-cabaret star Geraldine Quinn is a rare blend of songwriter, guitarist, singer, comedian, actor
and destined to be "catapulted to international superstardom" (The Age). Her work is brutal, original, intelligent, musically cunning, lyrically nimble and very, very funny. Described as "the secret lovechild of Trey Parker and Shirley Bassey" by Tim Minchin, this ginge minge is blazing a trail internationally, breaking rules, hearts and guitar strings across the globe.
Hannah Gadsby
The notoriously accident-prone Tasmanian comedian Hannah Gadsby had her comedy premiere at the Byron Bowling club in 2004. Six months later she won the national finals of RAW comedy and this sleepy-voiced, droopy-eyed girl dressed in a uniform of cover-all black found herself headlining in clubs around the country. She has performed at festivals in Edinburgh and Montreal which is a coup for the girl who admits she is chronically lazy. Raised in a hick town in Tasmania, and made to feel in turns ‘big boned’, ‘retarded’ or ‘dykey’ when growing up, she now seems mellow and happy.
Mandy Nolan (MC)
A comedian for two decades, a mother of three, soon to be four, a writer & part time social agitator. Mandy performs stand up around the country but has made her mark running clubs & teaching comedy here on the north coast where her jokes are as much a part of the vernacular as any surf speak. Her humour is sharp, honest, sometimes self-depreciating, somewhat outrageous, but never cruel or pretentious.
Tickets are $39.50 and include a 2 hour comedy show plus a delicious hot breakfast. Brekkie from 9am in the Festival Bar, with showtime in the A&I Hall at 10am.
