  • Please note, although tickets are available at the door at most events, they will be subject to availability as there are strictly limited numbers to each event. To avoid disappointment please purchase a ticket beforehand!

    Join your dating game show host The Gold Brain for this titillating St Valentine's Day treat as BrainDate throws six singles into the mixing pot of game show love and finds out which two brains bubble to the surface. Singles will be in the running to win a romantic dinner date at restaurant Fresca at the Bangalow Hotel after the show.     Funny Faces - Official Opening Drinks

    Who can pull the funniest face? Mandy Nolan and photographer Jules Ober have scoured the community for the best gurn (old english tradition of face pulling). The exhibition captures our community spirit of fun and proves that we really can laugh at ourselves! Audiences are asked to place a vote for the People's Choice for Big Joke's Funniest Face with a basket of goodies and the honour of being the face of Big Joke 09!!!     Laughter Yoga has been credited with having significant health benefits, as it is a simple and innovative technique based on the philosophies of activating happiness and Yoga.     The Night I Died

    Every comedian has a war story about the night they went on stage and died. Comics all over the world have died in the name of their craft, whether that be at Biker's Clubs, Theatres or live broadcasts. For some unexplained reason, it all wasn't alright on the night. For new comics, a stage death can be devastating. Established comics are more battle savvy. Find out how four comics at the peak of their craft have coped with stage 'death' and lived to kill again!

    Two Minute Noodles - Kid's Performance
    Saturday 16 Feb, 12.30pm at Bangalow RSL Hall

    Stand up comedian and circus performer, Dolores Homann presents 15 kids performing a show that they created from the 10am - 12pm morning workshop. It's where chaos and genius collide!!! The show will also feature a 15 minute cameo by High Priestess of the Hula Hoop, Ms Tina Trash.

    Hear what kids have to say about life, love, school & family in their own words! Mandy Nolan has taught over 20 kids the gentle art of stand up comedy, and this is their very first performance. If it's anything like last year, this is an extraordinary experience - hysterical, touching & empowering. This year Funny Kids is presented in association with the Melbourne International Comedy Festival with one of the kids being chosen to compete at the Class Clowns Final in Brisbane.     Stand up comedy has always been a man's world where only the bravest broads dare to tread. These days more and more women are taking the plunge and deciding to give stand up a go. After participating as a mentor with the Jeez Louise Women's Workshop at Melbourne Comedy Festival last year, Mandy Nolan has invited some inspiring new women performers from Melbourne, Brisbane and Sydney to come and strut their stuff. The performance also features women at the top of their game: the brilliant Fiona McGary and Elissa Hawke.

    The Village Idiot is the Big Joke's search for the newest & hottest stand up talent. With 4 heats running at the Urban/Bang Thai from Friday to Sunday culminating in a Grand Final at the Bangalow Pub on Sunday at 1pm. First prize is $500 from the Bangalow Chamber of Commerce. All heats are FREE.

    So who will be the Festival Idiot? The Village Idiot Final brings together the winners of the cafe heats over the course of the weekend to battle it out for the $500 and their name engraved on Perpetual Idiot Trophy! Mc'd by UK comic, out for the Melbourne Comedy Festival: Gordon Southern.

    Amelia Jane scored herself the coveted Moosehead Award from the Melbourne Comedy Festival for this one woman gender bending show. It has since wowed audiences in Edinburgh. In this ground breaking comedy performance Ameila Jane Hunter tells the story of Keith Flipp, the twin that vanished in utero and now appears one week every three months a year in a grungy drag queen bar.
